Shop Small 2019: Small Business Shopping Guide

Welcome to the third edition of my Shop Small Gift Guide! Read last years guide here. This blog post it easily my favorite thing to write, and I look forward to publishing it all year. I’ve compiled this years list based on businesses that I have discovered over the course of this past year, as well as suggestions from you. When I write these guides I typically highlight small businesses who are not solely vintage focused — I do this because I feel like I promote vintage shops throughout the rest of the year pretty regularly, and I want to give other small biz types their own special spotlight. Please let me know if you end up purchasing anything from these killer small businesses, I would love to see what you buy!

I recently learned that 67 cents per dollar stays local when you shop small. This means that for every dollar you spend locally, at a small business, 67 cents goes back into that local community — benefiting parks, schools, museums, libraries and so much more. This is a really big deal and a really important thing.

Some of these businesses are even running Black Friday promotions — which are so difficult to do when margins are already tight — so please check them out stat!
