Winter Wedding: Florals and Fur

How to wear florals to a wintery wedding

I apologize for the lack of blog posts here lately. I’ve been pouring all my energy into my YouTube channel and I’ve been neglecting the ole blog. Have you heard? (lol I’ve been talking about it nonstop on all my social channels) I started my YouTube channel! I’ll be cross posting my YouTube videos here on my blog as well, so you can always get all my content in one place. But if you subscribe to my channel, you can sign up for email notifications to get my videos in your inbox before anyone else.

To be completely honest, I often get frustrated with my blog because it’s hard to convey nuanced things over writing, and a lot of styling stuff is super nuanced. So I hope video is a better format for both of us! I am continuously improving my video set up—so please bear with me while I get the lighting and audio figured out. [Shooting video is WAY more intricate and complicated than writing a blog. Props to all those YouTubers out there].

I have so much to learn, and I appreciate all the tips, comments, and feedback you all have been sending through. I am always open to receiving constructive criticism!

Enough blabbing—let’s talk about this outfit. I wore this look while in Chicago last weekend for my dear friend Kelsie’s wedding. You all loved my carnivale themed wedding look on Instagram, thank you SO much for all the kind words. If the wedding hadn’t been carnivale themed, this is the outfit I would have worn. I love the idea of turning this springy frock into a winter wedding appropriate ensemble. One thing to keep in mind when rocking a floral dress in cooler temps—try to keep the print on the small side. An oversized print tends to look more casual and summery than a microprint.

Another key here is keeping the accessories winter-weather friendly, but not too dark and heavy. The pop of red in my beret compliments the red and pink tones in the floral dress. And the white and gray fur coat is light and delicate. My black faux croc accessories tie the outfit together and keep things looking city-serious instead of summer-fun.

You can see how I styled this same dress last year, in a totally different way, here.

You gotta tell me, have you been watching my YouTube vids? Do you prefer video content or blog posts? Shoot me a comment, I’m listening!
