Hi, it me.
Hi guys! I’m going to do something I’ve never done before: tell you a little bit about myself and why I started blogging. I’ve never officially introduced myself to you all, and it’s high time I remedy that. I have divulged tidbits here and there, but never a full-on bean spill…until now.
I’m originally from The Bay Area (California) but have lived in New York City for almost ten years. When I first moved here I lived in Manhattan for a few months, but then I moved to North Brooklyn and never went back (well, I mean, I went back to go to work, but not to live). As much as a I love the hustle and bustle of the city, it’s refreshing to return to my quiet Brooklyn neighborhood at the end of a long work day.
I earned my BFA from The School of Visual Arts, and have worked as a graphic designer (both in-house and agencies) for the past 5 years. I focus primarily in digital design, social media, and digital campaigns at my job, and branding and brand strategy in my freelance work.
Last May I married a super cool dude, and after the wedding I realized I had a ton of extra time on my hands (because I wasn’t spending every spare second planning a wedding). I had been reading style blogs for years, and always dreamed of starting one, but I never had the guts to pull the trigger. I realized if I didn’t start one now (then), I never would. And that’s how Clothes & Pizza was born. Putting yourself out there on the Internet is scary—you open yourself up to judgement and critique from strangers (and people you know, which is maybe worse), but having a creative outlet outside of the design world is really important to me.
Talking about yourself is weird, so I’m going to stop, for now. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have! Thanks for following along on this blogging adventure, I’m so damn grateful for your support.

I feel the same trepidation you felt about starting a blog. I’ve started to try and journal as practice, but I continue to have awkward feelings about sharing about myself, my fashion perspective, or even photos of me in my outfits. I can’t seem to get the idea out of my head that no one really cares about my fashion/shopping experience or perspective. Any advice?

I felt the exact same way you’re feeling too. My best advice is to start your blog for YOU and no one else. If posting photos of your outfits gives you a creative outlet and brings you joy, then do it! Not everyone will get excited about your blog, some people will probably judge you, but fuck ’em. Once you let go of the idea that everyone has to like you (which is way easier said than done) you’ll feel a weight lifted. Also, if you figure out how to let go of that idea, let me know, cuz I’m still struggling :o)

Thank you so much for sharing…also, forgot to mention that I love/hate that you shared the Etsy site with the turbans! I’m so obsessed…I have a small collection and can’t wait to add to it!

Haha, I totally feel you on the vulnerability of blogging, and completely agree that the critiques from people you know are much scarier than from strangers on the internet. Glad you took the plunge and went through with it though!
