Happy Wednesday my love bugs. I came down with a cold this weekend, so I was bit slower to post this than I had originally planned. We’re starting to feel the arrival of pre-fall here in NYC and I couldn’t be happier. Fall and spring are my sartorial sweet spots—they bring opportunities to layer and create exciting new clothing combos, without freezing into a popsicle or melting into a sweat puddle. Plus, BOOTS. Yes, they deserve all caps.
Transitioning those spring/summer floral prints into fall is a breeze with a few keen accessories. Berets are a fab outfit topper in fall because they’re such a quintessential autumn accessory. I mean, I can’t look at a red beret without imagining a back-to-school 80’s montage. Plus, they don’t offer quite enough warmth to wear once it really starts getting cold, so get them out of your system now.
I always think natural/neutral-toned prints work better in fall than those super bright summer prints. Even though is this a summery maxi dress (the orchid floral print), it works well into fall/winter because of the earthy color tones. If this same dress were in a brighter colorway, I’d probably skip it. I can also imagine rocking this dress into winter with a black turtleneck and thick tights underneath.
Throwing some booties on with an otherwise-summery outfit is also a quick trick for channeling those fall vibes. This year I am super into the chunky 70’s heel of these Mango beauts. And, the color blocking? I meannnn, come on now.
