By the look of these photos you’d think I wasn’t freezing, but surprise, I was! It’s still in the 30s here in NYC and I have never been more readdddddddy for Spring to spring y’all.
One of my favorite pieces to rock in the springtime (or dead of winter, as it was when I shot this outfit last weekend 🙄) is the midi dress. They are perfect for that seasonal transitional period when your legs aren’t quite ready to emerge from winter hibernation, but still need a little taste of sunshine. They also only require the half-leg-shave, which is always my preference regardless of hem length. [Haaaaaha who am I kidding, my preference is the never-leg-shave.]
*Clears throat* anyways. A midi dress always feels really classy and feminine to me. It has a vintage, silver screen, classic movie star quality, and its silhouette is SO flattering on very body type. A long sleeve version is perfect for spring when it’s still chilly in the shade, and also great for summer when you need extra coverage from the sun. When midi-ing, I prefer to wear a shoe that shows off as much foot/ankle as possible in order to elongate my stems. You’ll never see me in a midi + high-top combo. Although now that I’m thinking about it, that sounds really cute.
I found this vintage gingham beaut’ at The Brooklyn Flea a few months ago. But I have rounded up a TON of killer gingham dresses below. Midi or not, gingham frocks are THE dress for spring/summer!
