Holiday Styling Part IV: New Year’s Eve Dress

Dial up your New Years Eve LBD by choosing one with all over sequins!

AYYYY! New Year’s Eve is coming up and it’s my favorite holiday!!! I’m not exaggerating, I love New Year’s Eve more than any other holiday, maybe even more than my birthday. And I have never been more excited to end a year. Sigh, I’m not even going to get started on what an absolute horror show this year has been, on a national (and global) level. I’m just very very very glad this year is coming to an end.

New Year’s is the time of year I like to think about my goals and accomplishments and mentally take note of where I am currently in my life and where I want to go. I won’t bore you with my “humble brag” accomplishments—I’m sure I’ll share those another time 😂. But I WILL share with you some tips and tricks for looking and feeling your best Beyoncé come NYE.

It may seem obvious, but I’m saying it anyways: New Year’s Eve is your excuse to be ab-so-lute-ly extra. I believe in being a little extra all the time, but NYE is your night to GO BIG. Some ideas that you can see incorporated into the outfit below:

  1. Wear an LBD. When in doubt, go with a little black dress. It’s classic, timeless, and when combined with all over sequins (like the one below), it’s pure ball-dropping magic.
  2. Speaking of sequins, rock ’em! Someone commented #GlitterBunz on my latest Insta post of this outfit and I am all about it. All over sequins are ideal, but if you’re more comfortable with less glitz, a hint of sequins is also totally acceptable. Like this beaded bustier—just add wide leg black pants and your outfit is complete.
  3. And last, but certainly not least: Add accessories that accentuate your favorite feature. For moi, a cinched waist makes me feel confident. For you, it could be a statement necklace dangling down a deep V, lace-up heels to emphasize your legs, or a cropped top to show off a sliver (or more!) of stomach. Looking your best is really about feeling your best. So make sure at least part of your outfit is looking out for number 1.

This piece from Omnia Vintage is perfect because it’s absolutely timeless. It’s not one of those NYE buys that you wear once and then sits in the back of your closet for years and you’re like “Uggghhh why did I buy that thing again?” (yep, I’ve been there). This is the type of vintage piece that somehow manages to also appear totally modern. Its classic silhouette with edgy front AND back cutouts make the dress extra special. Visit the Omnia Vintage shop to add it to your closet.

I’d love to see what you’re wearing for NYE this year! Please tag me in your outfit pics!

Hi lady! I actually thrifted this belt yearssss ago in California. It reminded me of the belt Carrie wore with that floral dress in the first SATC movie!

You are looking fabulous in this outfit. I also have sequin dress but would like to purchase one like yours as your outfits neck design is amazing and I don’t have a dress with such neck pattern. Keep posting such dressing ideas.
