You know how much I love to get dressed up for any and all occasions. Dentist appointment? Wear a cocktail dress. Baseball game? Wear a fur coat. But during the holiday season, you hardly need any excuse at all to wear your finest frocks.
But this post isn’t about acquiring a new holiday dress. It’s about NOT acquiring a new holiday dress! Gasp*, I know. While I’m usually a total yes-woman when it comes to a reason to splurge, I decided not to buy any new holiday party clothing this year. Maybe it’s the recent cross-continental move, and the fact that I went through my wardrobe more than twice during the process (packing, unpacking, and doing a closet clean out), but I rediscovered a ton of fabulous party-friendly apparel that was already sitting right in my closet. And instead of splurging on a dress (that really won’t get much wear), I took a different angle this year. I decided to jazz up my (old) dress with a new accessory instead: this pearl embellished headband.
Buying accessories is usually a much less expensive way to create a new twist on an old ensemble. This year, I encourage you to do the same—if you’ve got a party dress hanging in your closet already, splurge on accessories (that you can definitely wear more than once!) Add patterned tights, a glittery headpiece, statement shoes, or a bold handbag to completely transform a tried and true (or tired) dress.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite holiday party-friendly accessories from ’round in the Internet for your shopping pleaj. Scroll down for my favorite party bags, sparkley earrings, luxe headbands, and shiny shoes.
Sometimes a little ear/head/foot bling is all you need to make any outfit holiday appropriate!
