I’m bringing you a two-fer with this post! That means I’m taking 1 concept, and styling it 2 different ways. I once did a three-fer on cowboy boots, but that’s a ton of work .
I was recently turned on to the magic that is bodysuits a few months ago. [You can see my first bodysuit styling post here.] The main reason I love bodysuits is that they always stay tucked in. I like to wear a lot of high waisted skirts and pants. And I am constantly re-tucking in my top. Sometimes I even do the double tuck (where you tuck your shirt into your underwear 😬, don’t judge me.) Bodysuits eliminate the annoying problem of bending over, raising your arms, scratching your nose, picking your nose, and untucking half your outfit.
I love that one piece swimsuits have been coming back en vogue the past few years. I’ve never been a fan of the teenie tiny bikini. No hating if you love ’em, I’ve just never found one that didn’t make me feel like I was one hair flip away from flashing my goods. The other day I was like, “Wait a minute, isn’t a one piece bathing suit kind of like a bodysuit?” And yes, yes it is.
Outfit #1: I love the idea of this plunging-neckline suit paired with this feminine pleated skirt. It’s risqué on top, demure on bottom. An inverse mullet, if you will. I also like that this backless suit created a Marilyn-esque halter dress.
Outfit #2: My second look dials up the retro vibe in oversized polkadots and wide leg pants. I couldn’t resist a lil’ patternsmashing either. I think the bodysuit trend works best with a fuller silhouette on your bottom half. It helps balance out the sleekness of your top half. Plus it’s a really flattering silhouette on most women! Quick side note about the sandals I’m wearing: I’ve re-bought them 3 times they are that comfortable. If you’re looking for an uber comfortable summer sandal with a tiny bit of height, these are they. No shame in my granny-chic game!
Now that I’m writing this, I just had a thought: This concept would also work really well with overalls. K, go on with your bad bathing-suit-as-a-bodysuit self. Don’t forget to tag me/send me pics if you try this out!
